How To Pack Your Bags When Renting A Villa

This year you have decided to skip the usual motels and hotels and rent a vacation home for your family getaway. But how does one pack for a stay in a home away from home?

Given that it was you who made the decision, you already know that vacationing in a private vacation villa is nothing like staying in a hotel. Most villa rentals are outfitted like your home and you will most likely have access to a washing machine and dryer. This will help cut down the amount of luggage you bring with you.

Let’s look at what you really need to pack for a stay in your private vacation villa for your annual holidays, with some tips from our friends at “Location Villa Espagne” …

DOCUMENTATION You will obviously want to pack your plane tickets and the directions to your your vacation villa with you. Make sure your passport is up to date. It is recommended to make photocopies of all your documents, including passports, birth certificates, ID, plane tickets, itinerary and travel insurance.

TOWELS – Most rental villas will supply towels for both indoor use and outdoor use for the pool and beaches. Contact the private vacation villa owner to see what they offer. Beach towels can usually be purchased relatively cheap, so unless you have room for towels don’t bother packing them.

MEDICATION – Let’s state the obvious. It is critical to pack your medication when travelling. You’ll need to plan for any delays if something goes wrong with your scheduled flight and you have to wait a few extra days to return home. Make sure you not only pack all essential medications for you and your family, but also any allergy medications like Epi-Pens. It is a good idea to also pack the repeat prescription forms in case you run out or lose your medication. This way you can consult a local doctor to get more. It is also very important to pack your medication with the bags you bring on-board with you, just in case your checked luggage ends up in a different time zone.

CLOTHING – As mentioned, your vacation rental may come complete with a washer and dryer, in which case you can pack light. It is always advisable before packing to check with the owner of the vacation villa first to ensure that these facilities are available. The amount and type of clothing you pack will depend upon where you are traveling and what activities you are planning on doing while there, but remember, you’re a tourist after all and expectations are not going to be really that high, so pack for comfort, not for fashion.

TOILETRIES – A great way to save room in your luggage is to leave all non-essential toiletries behind. The area you are visiting has plenty of places where you can purchase such items as soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and whatever other essentials you require. If you have allergies to products and have your own specific brands you prefer, then of course bring them along.

HAIR DRYERS – Some people can’t live without their hair dryers. When it comes to a family vacation a hair dryer is not essential, and your hair dryer might not even work in the country you are travelling to without an adapter. Most vacation villas will supply hair dryers so just contact the vacation villa owner before you begin packing to ensure that they do.

MUNCHIES – Many countries have strict requirements when it comes to what food material is allowed through customs. Most things will not be allowed in to the country, so save the space in your luggage and leave your favourite treats behind. Any food you happen to bring onto the plane in your carry-on should stay on the plane if it is unfinished. It would be a terrible way to start a trip by being fined for accidentally forgetting that apple in your carry-on bag.

SPENDING MONEY – It’s a good idea to pack some local currency and coins in your carry-on luggage. After you get off the plane you and the kids may be hungry or thirsty and having some local currency in small dominations will help you refuel before you head off to your villa rental.

EARBUDS Most airlines charge a few dollars to purchase their earbuds to be able to watch the in-flight televisions and movies. Although they are usually no more than $5 it is advisable to bring along your own if you have them.

TOYS – Some flights can be very long and boring if you have nothing to occupy yourself and your kids with. Some vacations can be like that, too – especially if it rains and you can relax in the comfort of your vacation rental. Pack some books, puzzles, cards, travel sized board games and handheld devices. The last thing you want is a cranky kid on a four plus hour flight. Not only will it make your flight much more enjoyable, but it will also allow for some down-time relaxing in your villa.

Just remember, whether your plans are at Costa Blanca Villa Location or elsewhere, you are only going away for a small amount of time, so try not to over pack. As the semi-famous saying goes, pack light enough to travel.

Starting Over In A Different Country. Life As An Expat.

The first few days in Portugal was a real eye opener for us. We had just spent five months travelling with our caravan in France and then Spain to try and find a good deal on a house for our fresh start and it took us all the way to the western side of Europe, where the money went further and the sun shone long enough and warm enough to justify our big move.

We camped at Foz Do Arelho in our caravan while the builder finished the work on our house. It was August before it would be ready. This allowed us time to get our thinking caps on and research the local area before setting up our b&b in portugal. In portugal b and b is not an easy business because there is plenty of competition but we had a good idea of how to succeed.

I was keen on learning web design because a good web site would be very useful. It looked as though in portugal bed and breakfast would work well as long as we could tap in to the right kind of market. It was time well spent and in the Portuguese sunshine, very pleasant too.

Soon the time came for us to move our caravan off the camp site and drive it to our new home. As we arrived at our house, we felt a really pleasant feeling about the future. Naturally we had to overcome a few difficulties, we were strangers in a strange land and it would take time to get accustomed to our new neighbours and villagers.

We thought about what needed doing first, and getting an Internet connection was the prime concern. All the main services already had accounts in our names so we had electricity gas and water. It was beginning to look like we had a rosy future in Portugal. Then the problems started to arise and test our patience. The builder was being a difficult person to deal with, he spoke only Portuguese and his English speaking staff lasted only a few weeks before being replaced. There were a few things we wanted put right and he ignored our requests to come and fix them.

But…that is life. Nothing is perfect, but on the whole, Portugal is a paradise, especially on the Silver Coast were we are. We ca live with that!

Richards Bay The Great Playground Of Opportunities

If you are looking for a great destination for bird watching or just living. I think you have found it. I think Richards Bay is a perfect place to start your dream.

I feel that being close to game parks gives you easy access to open tranquil areas so that recharging is always close.

I know that Richards Bay also has a fantastic sporting fraternity. I play underwater hockey and they have a team. If they have a team for underwater hock they will have a team for whatever sport you play.

If on holiday:, accommodation is accessible in multiple different forms. Now I don’t know about you but so long is there is a bed, I am happy. For the rest of you there are hotels, self-catering, B&B’s and the list goes on.
Now for those unfortunate people that come to Richards Bay for a day or two and have work. Remember the surfboard because the sun in summer goes down late. This gives you time after work to relax.

If ever there was a rainbow of cultures in one city, this is it. All cultures live in this country style city as though it was a small rural town. These cultures are presented in different ways throughout all accommodation:.

Now what I enjoy is the animals that live in and Richards Bay. Hippos can be seen in the harbor when the time is right. There are also humpback dolphins that can be seen in the sea and harbor.

The next important item would be nourishment. There are eating places allover.

The views in the harbor while eating are as abundant as the meals.
This doesn’t mean the accommodation can’t provide you with the same excellent food and views. A new hotel on the water’s edge is a great place to chill in the evenings.

The weather can be hot, so think about accommodation with air conditioning especially during summer.

For those that want to spend money there is the shopping mall. They also have a movie house and fast food shops. Just walking the mall can give you enough cardio to want to get to the beach.

Excursions to game parks can be done in a day. The parks are between 1 and 2 hours away by car. The journey to the park, can be as thrilling as the park its self. The “Big Five” can be seen in most parks in the area.

All in all this is a brilliantplace to visit or live.
I have watched Richards Bay mature into a fantastic for anybody to enjoy. This covers from young to old.

Why don’t you come see for yourself, you won’t regret it.

Maybe even an earlier short break or weekend in the country to help you recover from all the stress of the Christmas period. That is an excellent idea and a great place to chill out and relax for a few days or more is The Vineyard Retreat Bed and Breakfast -Accommodation Silver Coast in Portugal.

The decisions you make now will critical so you need to do a little research about the Silver Coast of Portugal and hopefully this article will assist you in making some sensible decisions. The Silver Coast is beginning to emerge as a top holiday destination for a lot of people, so the information here is written with that in mind. The Vineyard Retreat – English bed and breakfast, is located in an excellent position to help you get the most from your break.

The Silver Coast is beautiful all year round and is an ideal place for couples to come to for a romantic break away from the hustle bustle of their normal lives. The area has interests and attractions to cater for every taste.

If you plan on making Portugal your destination for your main annual holiday then you probably want a different sort of accommodation like a self catering villa or an apartment to cater for the whole family. It depends a lot on the quantity of travellers and their ages, but the Silver Coast still has as much to offer as the more famous southern area, the Algarve.

If you love playing golf then you will be in your element. There are several good golf courses in close proximity. Praia D’el Rey is the best know and the most expensive. It is right on the beach so it draws a lot of player there. For less cash you can play at Golden Eagles at Rio Maior, but the golf course at Campo Real is a favourite. It hosted the Ladies European Tour in 2010 and will again in 2011. There is a tee where you need a lift that is provided to get to it, so it can be a little steep, but is a real pleasure to walk round and play the holes.

If architecture and history is your subject then there is plenty available. The Gothic churches at Santarem and the Roman ruins near Obidos and again Santarem are delightful as both towns also have the obligatory narrow winding cobbled streets. There are people here who know a lot about the ancient friendship between England and Portugal, and the career of The Duke of Wellington was done no harm at all by the campaign in Portugal.

The tourist attractions are not just churches, battlefields and Roman ruins.
There are many family run restaurants to enjoy and the cost of eating out is not going to break the bank. Portuguese cuisine is very underrated and most peoples experience of it is limited to a trip to Nandos’ for Chicken Piri Piri. The range of dishes is excellent and you would be encouraged to try the Porco Alentejana which is a famous stew of pork bites and clams. Another really good Portuguese dish is Bacalhao com natas, which is cod with cream, a bit like fisherman’s pie but better.

A beach holiday is also a good possibility because the area has at least three of the best and most popular beaches in Portugal. You can walk between Peniche and Baleal in about an hour on white sand all the way and get refreshments at either end. Of course you may prefer to just lay down and soak up the sun. Sao Martinho Do Porto has an almost entirely enclosed clamshell shaped bay that is protected by two great arms of stone from the Atlantic forces that would if allowed give the beach an unwelcome makeover. Foz Do Arelho is the lagoon of Obidos at the entrance to the Atlantic but has safe beaches and cool pools to swim in.

There is also a sailing school there on the banks of the lagoon further inland so if you want to windsurf or sail a catamaran then pay them a visit.
If you are looking for a place to stay then you will find that The Vineyard Retreat Bed and Breakfast Portugal is within fifteen minutes of all the attractions and within 25 minutes of all the best beaches.

UK Accommodation Options

For most holidaymakers; the most important factor to deliberate on when planning a prospective holiday is the accommodation. What needs to be considered is not only the price, but a large number of factors that will make your place of stay as suitable as possible for you and your family. When planning a holiday or short trip to or in the United Kingdom, your choice of accommodation will have a great bearing on whether you will end up remembering that holiday for good or bad reasons.

Due to the nature of Britain’s countryside, the location of your hotel is a very important point to consider, especially if you do not have your own transport. There are many extremely picturesque areas of the U.K that look like fantastic locations but are also very far from any public transport services such as trains and buses.

If you are traveling to the UK on holiday then it is expected that you will be dependant on your accommodation being in close proximity to amenities. For this reason it is sensible to research the locations you wish to travel to so that you make sure you are not based in the middle of nowhere, with no transport links.

Whilst the cost of the accommodation tends to go some way in dictating the potential quality of an establishment, it should by no means be the only factor in deciding where to stay. Other things that you need to bear in mind are the amenities that the hotel or B&B offers, the propinquity to local services, restaurants and other attractions, whether the hotel provides activities and can arrange transport or tours or other services and also whether any promotions or seasonal discounts can apply to your situation.

Once you have narrowed down your choices, you must then spend some time cross-referencing the costs and services relating to each establishment. You best resource now is the internet; a quick search will not only bring up detailed prices and services, but also reviews and feedback from previous customers.

Everybody wants their holiday to be the best that it can be with the budget that they have. For this reason it is important to plan everything to the smallest detail. Choosing the right accommodation means spending a lot of time researching your options on the internet, in magazines and newspaper and also asking friends and family for advice. If you are having trouble, there are also internet forums in which you can ask previous visitors for help in choosing the perfect place to stay.

Summer Holiday 2011. It’s Not Easy But Perhaps This Will Help You Make Up Your Mind.

What would make you decide to take a trip to Portugal and perhaps to stay in a British bed and breakfast?Could it be the wonderful culture that draws you there or the surfing perhaps? Maybe it will be all that cheap food wine and beer. But above all else, it will probably be the climate. If you want to beat the freeze and you do not want to fly for hours on end, then Portugal is a good destination and even in the winter, when the sun comes out it can be really warm.

Think of a place to stay…there are many different types of accommodation to be had. This is a great place for a short break Portugal and they are getting great reviews on Tripadvisor. The Vineyard Retreat has been established for three years now and the English family who started it have seen great fluctuations in the fortunes of their venture due to several reasons. Firstly the currency problems that wiped out 30% or so of the exchange rate affecting travellers, property buyers, holiday makers and tourism generally.

However, they see a potentially good year approaching. There has never been a better time to visit Portugal and acquaint yourself with the Silver Coast than now. The property market prices are falling and are bound to tempt buyers back into the market.

They will want accommodation. The Vineyard Retreat is perfectly placed to view properties in most of the Silver Coast. You can reach the famous places and resorts like Sao Martinho Do Porto, Nazare and Obidos in no time at all, and properties around these two towns are certain to be a good investment. The exchange rate might not equal the highs of three or four years ago but it is better than the lows of the last two years.

Secondly, the general lack of the feel-good factor particularly in the UK because of the lack of confidence in employment status and banks tightening everything up, has led to less people going abroad and those that still do tend to migrate to the better known hotspots of Europe and beyond.

There is a trickle of optimism now that things will get better. There is also a festive feel to the northern hemisphere, allowing for the fact that travellers are currently spending too much time at airports waiting for delayed, massively delayed or cancelled flights, the snow has brought with it a seasonal feeling. Once shoppers can return to the checkouts there will be chaos and profits.

Then people will look to book their getaways. They will want their romantic weekends away and short breaks in the countryside.
The Vineyard Retreat is looking forward to greeting many more people soon and if anyone is looking for Bed and Breakfast to compliment their trip to Portugal, then this British b&b is waiting for your booking now.

Advice On Booking A Ski Chalet

A ski vacation is a wonderful getaway for enthusiasts of the outdoors. The exotic vistas offered by the majestic, snow-capped mountains are almost impossible to match. To get the most out of a trip to the slopes, the lodging has to be a perfect complement to the excursion. Returning to a cozy, welcoming ski chalet is a wonderful way to end a day of powdery fun. There are some considerations to bear in mind when booking a ski chalet.

Local cuisine is one of the great pleasures of any vacation. In order to combine this aspect of a trip with the lodging, you can always book a catered ski chalet. A wide variety of tasty meals are offered at these chalets such as the ever popular continental breakfast to scrumptious pancakes and warm tea for lunch. Coming back to a home cooked meal after hitting the slopes all day is a wonderful thing, especially when the food is prepared by a professional chef. Catered ski chalets will set you back a little more financially, but they are worth it if you are a fan of food.

Location is also a high priority when looking for the ideal ski chalet. Nightlife and sightseeing are essential parts of many vacations, and a ski chalet found in a resort provides easy access to this type of fun when the skiing day ends. If you are seeking a wide variety of ski slopes to try out, however, remember that a stay at a resort will limit your choices. Ski chalets that are built more in the wilderness will provide access to a greater number of slopes, but you will want to be sure that adequate transportation back to town can be found.

You will also want to consider the cost of booking a chalet at certain parts of the year. Because many people are home celebrating with family and friends around Christmas and New Year’s Day, great savings can be found to entice people to head out to a ski chalet. Peak seasons will be more expensive because lodging will be in shorter supply. This is why you will want to book well in advance of your trip. Otherwise, you may find yourself settling for a group chalet and suffer waiting for facilities and crowded conditions.

A great ski vacation involves staying at a great chalet. From the food to the comfort, a ski chalet completes the trip. Book one early, and you can guarantee a good time on the slopes.

Self Catering Holiday Cottages – Advice From A Travel Expert

The UK is a wonderful place for a trip away, whether for a flying visit or a longer stay. An increasingly popular accommodation choice is the self catering holiday cottage, and it’s not hard to see why. These cottages offer you loads of freedom. You can come and go as you please without worrying about hotel rules or restaurant timetables. No one will mind if you don’t want breakfast until 10am or if you show up to eat it in your pajamas!

As well as freedom in what you do, holiday cottages also offer great options on the price. If you stay in a B&B or hotel, you normally have to pay per person, which can add up to quite a bit. The price of renting a holiday cottage includes everyone in your party and so can be much more cost effective. There’s also variation in the styles and sizes of property, meaning you can choose one to suit you and fit your price bracket.

Whether you’re looking to stay in a busy market town or a quiet, sleepy hamlet, you are guaranteed to be able to find a lovely self catering cottage that’s right for you. The choice over location is one of the best benefits of going with this option. Staying in hotels often means you’re confined to typically touristy areas, whereas going with a cottage means you can stay somewhere off the beaten track, experiencing life as it really is in the UK while getting a great deal on the price.

Wherever you’re from, a break in a self catering cottage is like living in a home away from home. You’ll have all your necessities taken care of, from bed linen to bins, from sofas to kitchen gadgets. It means you get to control what you do and enjoy a cozy, comforting experience that can often be lost when staying in big, impersonal hotels. Having your own space means that cottage breaks are truly relaxing and you won’t have to worry about being on your best behavior all the time.

Linked to this is the fantastic privacy you get with having your own space. You don’t have to watch what you do or say, and there’s no need to worry about people checking up on your every move. You’ll have a contact in case you have an emergency, so you’ll always have peace of mind, but other than that, it’s up to you what you want to do with your time in your self catering cottage. It all adds up to a great, relaxing, hassle-free holiday experience that’s adaptable to every need.

Tips For Choosing A Hotel In London

London, England conjures images of high society and sophistication. That makes it attractive to world travelers and casual tourists alike, but the rates of hotels in the area can be a scary thought. That doesn’t need to scare you off though, however, because there is plenty of advice available for finding a cheap hotel in London.

One of the most obvious things you can do in order to secure a cheap rate at a London hotel is to surf the internet. Simply type in “cheap London hotels” or a variation of the phrase into your favorite search engine and you will be blindsided with the number of results that will appear on the page. Click through a few of the sites rather than looking only at the first result to get a feel for not only the price of hotels in London but of their quality. Some of these sites are operated by London tourism bureaus and some are maintained by individuals. Read the rates and pay attention especially to customer reviews. These people have been there and can offer insider advice.

Now that you have gathered the names of several hotels that satisfy your budget, it is time to check the website of the respective hotels themselves. This is where you will find current deals that the hotel is providing. Compare the price of different hotels while you are performing research and look for advance booking discounts. Just like airlines, hotels will give breaks to customers making reservations well in advance. You will probably find several London hotels that let you make arrangement a year or more prior to your visit. Keep an eye out for customer reviews here as well to save you the time of sifting through endless pages yourself.

As convenient as the internet is, don’t think that travel concerns begin and end on its electronic pages. The old reliable travel agency is a terrific place to find the best rates of hotels in London. Travel booking is what these people do for a living, meaning that they will have the latest information regarding deals and cheap rates of hotels in London. Keep in mind that they can plan your entire trip, too. The fee they charge might seem small in comparison to the potential wave of information you would have to sift through on your own.

So forget about skipping a visit to London just because the hotels are too expensive. There are plenty of cheap rates to be found if you do some digging. Travel agencies also have plenty of advice on finding a cheap hotel in London.

How To Choose Your Hotel

The last thing any traveler wants to do is to discover, at the end of a long journey, that their chosen hotel is substandard or, even worse, that the room they have booked is no longer available. To find a hotel that suits your needs, it’s best to look online for hotel reviews. There are lots of hotel review sites on the internet. Most of these sites not only offer reviews of hotels with a number of stars but with written reviews as well. Travelers often seek the following in a hotel:

Cleanliness and friendliness: Certainly you want your hotel to be clean and have a friendly staff, no matter the price of the hotel. If you’re willing to spend more you may be able to procure a room in a hotel with a concierge. A concierge will be able to tell you the best restaurants to eat in and the best places to visit.

Security: 24/7 front desk staff is a must in a good hotel. Good hotels also have full security staff. Key cards are the best keys. They can be discarded when a lodger checks out and they can be replaced if they are lost.

Cost: Cost is perhaps the most important aspect of hotel accommodations to many travelers. If you visit a hotel review site you will be offered a range of prices that will give you a good idea of what you should expect to pay. If you must choose the most inexpensive room, you must. But consider paying a little more to get some extras like a hotel dining room or a pool for the kids.

Hotel address: You can save money on hiring a car if you stay in a hotel that is near restaurants and places to visit. If you prefer to hire a car, choose a hotel that is either near car rental shops or rental shops that deliver the car to the hotel.

The best way to book a clean, safe, and friendly hotel room in a convenient location is to do some internet research and then call the hotel and check on certain aspects that interest you. Be sure to specify if you plan to arrive late. Get the name of the person you speak with and have them email you a confirmation so you can check on the details of your reservation before you arrive. And have a wonderful time!
