This list is the personal favourites of a Chicago fence installer who shares them with us today. With so much to do in Chicago, Illinois, it was hard for him to choose his top picks. But here they are. What do you think?
Allow yourself to drool a minute in honor of Chicago Food Planet. This is a unique offers unique food tasting and culinary cultural walking tours around some of Chicago’s historic neighborhoods. They describe it as a non-touristy, local experience so you feel like a native Chicagolandonian. They lead people of all fitness levels from one ethnic restaurant to another, all the way recounting tails of food and history, as well as architecture and culture. This is a unique hands-on (and moth-on!) experience that most visitors to Chicago overlook.
The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the most important art museums in the USA, featuring also a well-known art school. Probably the most important painting it houses is the ever famous “American Gothic”, but it is a very large museum covering a variety of art forms, from the Grand Masters to modern architecture to armour and weaponry from the age of chivalry.
What could stick out more than an amusement park that sticks out into Lake Michigan? It’s a great place to ride a 15-story-high ferris wheel – with its superb view of the Chicago skyline. Or Float in silence 35 stories into the air on the 60-foot-wide Navy Pier AeroBalloon and enjoy a 360-degree panorama – unless you’re afraid of heights. But have no fear there is plenty more to do on Navy Pier since it was founded in 1995. Although Museum Campus is well to the south, you’ll find the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows on Navy Pier, too. Tired of walking? Sit down for some visual entertainment of ye olde style at the Shakespeare Theatre. Or perhaps some visual entertainment of the ultra modern style at the 3D, 80-foot wide screen IMAX movie theatre.
Who would ever come up with a chocolate tour? Well, somebody did and she deserves to get a little more attention than she does. Valerie Beck describes herself as “Chief Executive Chocolate Lover”, and she offers a guided walking tour of all the finest chocolate establishments in Chicago’s Loop. This makes an ideal outing for both tourists and locals, because who wouldn’t want to taste chocolate. If you have kids or a sweet tooth, this is a one-of-a-kind tour that will make your visit to Chicago memorable.
Chicago is home to two zoos, which is very impressive. The larger one, is just a little out of the way, but well worth the detour. The Brookfield Zoo stretches across 216 acres, including both interior and exterior exhibits. Since it first opened its doors in 1934, (when it rewrote the rules on keeping animals in cages by using moats and ditches) the Brookfield Zoo has grown to include over 450 species of animals. Some of the more intriguing exhibits now on display are Feathers and Scales, Tropic World (including animals from rainforests of three continents), The Swamp and The Living Coast. There are also two different African habitats.
As we said earlier, there really are so many things to do in Chicago, Illinois, that it is hard to choose just those few. We did not even mention…

For people who love the travel the plane ticket is literally their ticket to fun and excitement. Whether you travel to the away reaches of the world to see the sites and experience different cultures, or you just like to discover the un-discovered nuggets of your own homeland, with a plane back in your hand you are off to your new destination.
With all the airline options that travelers have today, once you have purchased your plane ticket you can get just about to any destination in the world both enormous and small. So get started on that itinerary, book your flight, and grab your flight tickets and get going!
Depending upon your destination or the extent of your trip you may have to look to more than one airline in which to purchase your plane tickets. Many times this is the case when you do the bulk of your flying on the major airline but to get to the smaller final destination point, you may discover the large airline ain’t or can’t even get there.
For those who are lucky enough to be able to make extended travel plans based on cruise travel agent because they have the time to do so, getting to different places with different plane tickets for different airlines is not a problem. This is particularly true if your travel plans take you hopping from one country to the next.
So, as you are making your travel plans and if they call for travel to various locations… particularly international travel… you’ll want to make sure of the connecting flight details so that the plane tickets that you ultimately purchase won’t be in conflict with each other.
If your travel plans are a bit more complex and involve international travel it is best to go through your local travel agent. Your local travel will have easy access to all the promotions from the various providers as well as be able to advise you on any seasonal specials that may affect your timing of purchasing your plane tickets.
Your travel agent or planet travel guide will also be able to line up your plane tickets for the the smaller internal flights that you may be required to take once you get to the country of your destination.
Most all of the various air carriers will have certain requirements and conditions attached to the deal that they are offering so you will want to make sure with your travel agent or mobile travel guide that you are aware of any to these before you purchase your plane tickets.
Most ski resorts have websites. Start the planning process by accessing these websites to determine where you and your family might want to go for your family ski vacation. There are many different things to look for when choosing a resort. The absolute most Important thing to look for is a ski school if someone in your family will need instruction. While most resorts do have ski schools, some don’t. Don’t make the mistake of choosing a destination where one or more of your family members won’t have fun, simply because they don’t know immediately how to ski.
Next, take a look at the slopes, lifts, and trails. You want to make sure that the resort has something to offer everyone in your family. If the resort only caters to beginners, an expert skier will become quickly bored. If you have a s nowboarder in your group, and there is no snowboarding park or terrain. There are resorts that serve all winter sports so make sure that your families interests are covered.
Lodging is the next thing to look at. You want to be comfortable, so where you will sleep at night matters a great deal. In most cases, there is a hotel right at the base of the slopes ?but this isn’t necessarily the best or most affordable place to stay. Find out what your lodging options are for the area, and decide the one that is right for your family and your budget. If you will be staying distant away from the slopes, make sure that there is transportation to and from the slopes each day!
Your family will have many more interests that you will need to search for before deciding on a particular destination and resort. Some of those interests may be dog sledding, sleigh rides, at once for snowboarding or horseback riding. Resorts do offer these activities, but some don’t ?so be sure to ask about the winter activities, as well as the planned events during the time that you will be at the resort. This will help you plan a ski vacation that your family will enjoy and remember for the rest of their lives.
