Chamonix – This is one of the best-known ski resorts within the French Alps and is automatically associated with skiing. Set just below Europe’s highest mountain, Mont Blanc, the location is stunning and you are only one hours drive away from Geneva. The slopes here suit experienced skiers although there are also beginner slopes and Chamonix is well known for it’s busy nightlife with an array of lively bars and restaurants for you to enjoy yourself in.
Val d’Isere – Val d’Isere is another of the French Alps top skiing holiday destinations. This is a big resort offering opportunities for high altitude skiing and off-piste skiing for the adventurous and more experienced skier. This resort boasts several slopes famous for competitions including the Olympic Men’s Downhill slope from 1992. There’s something for everyone here with slopes that are suitable for intermediate levels skiers and slopes that would suit children and beginners.
Les Deux Alpes – This is a popular and lively ski resort with a great range of clubs, bars and restaurants and a cosmopolitan feel to it. You’ll find Irish bars and British pubs in this resort and certainly won’t be short of places to go if you like to combine your skiing with socializing. The skiing is considered to be very good too, especially for intermediates and upwards with over 200kms of ski slope available although there is plenty on offer for the beginner skier too.
Flaine – This popular resort is very popular with families as there are great facilities for the young skier, starting from age two and a half upwards. Flaine resort faces Mont Blanc and has an altitude of 2500m; there are 265 km of pistes for you to experience. There are also opportunities for cross-country skiing. There is plenty of family oriented nightlife and entertainment to enjoy in Flaine making this a great all round resort for a holiday.
