We decided to ask a friend who coordinates the rentals for a selection of villas in Costa Blanca, and asked her what people most frequently leave behind when they vacate their villas.
FOOD and DRINK
Many people buy lots of food and drink to enjoy while they stay in the villas, but they don’t always estimate correctly the exact number of crumbs and drops they need. So there are left-overs, and very often there are a lot of left-overs (more than just a few crumbs or drops).Everybody eats. Everybody drinks. Everybody stocks the fridge.Some people simply have eyes bigger than their stomachs. At the end of their vacation, left-overs are left over.
Due to the pure weight, and sometimes the size, of the left-overs, it is not always possible to bring the extra food and drink with them. So they leave them behind in their villa rentals in Costa Blanca …which can make a very nice tip for the cleaning staff.
TOWELS and CLOTHING
When you think of packing, what comes to mind? Clothing. So it stands to reason that there is plenty of clothing on any trip to leave behind. Socks, underwear and…and… all sorts of stuff.

PASSPORTS
Yes, as hard as it is to believe, over one in every thousand villa renters in Costa Brava and Costa Blanca. And that hurts. So the question this raises is what happens next? Do these people all apply for a new passport? For temporary travel documents? Or do they just “disappear”? Could some or all of these be fake passport that people no long need, having completed their assassination or theft or whatever role they have in some super-villains sinister plot to take over the world? I mean, why do these people just leave the passport behind and not return for them? We shall never know.
TOILETRIES
Yes, it is very easy to forget shampoo or a razor or cosmetics behind in the bathroom – especially things that get left in the bathtub or shower area. On my last hiking trip, I left behind my rather fancy razor. That was frustrating. But, unlike a passport, a razor is not something to return for once your villa is out of sight.
LADIES UNDERWEAR – lots of it!
From the pages of i-can’t-believe-it-really-happened comes a handbag that some male college students left behind. The handbag was full of ladies underwear, trophies of conquest (we presume) and testimony to what a great party weekend they had.
STRANGEST of all
If it stopped at just ladies underwear, we could chock it up to college kids doing what colledge kids do. But how would one explain the shopping carts? 300 meters up in the mountains? Four kilometers from the nearest grocery store? Must have been quite a party.

Casares is just a short drive away from well-liked resorts such as Marbella, Puerto Banus, Estepona, and Soto Grande. Visit the apes at Gibraltar which is simply 25 minutes away, don’t forget your passport to enjoy duty free shopping, or Selwo Zoo again 20 minutes or so away.
If you are into sports Casares Del Sol is ideally placed since it has lots of golf course in the vicinity and even has its own 9 hole course, just across the road. It is next door to Finca Cortesin Golf Club where the Volvo World Match Play was held during 2009!
If you do not fancy moving too far countless restaurants and bars are within walking distance. More restaurants, bars and supermarkets are 5 minutes away.
